I am Computer Science major. In two years I am hoping to get my Bachelors
and Masters in Computer Science. This is something I am really
excited about and looking forward to. The coolest thing about Computer Science is
that we do programming, programming and programming. The best class I took last semester was Software Requirements & Specs because it was an
easy A. By that I do not mean it was a blow off class, it was just the
professor. A great professor. I love travelling, in fact, I went to San Antonio,
Texas for the winter break and it was just an awesome place. Now, Paris is on
the top of the visiting list because of Eiffel Tower. The main reason for that
being my favorite place is to me Eiffel Tower kind of looks like an A, the lower bottom of it and my
name starts with an A, so there is one reason for that. When it comes to food,
I love Italian food. I wish I knew how to make it, so I would eat that every
single day. But that is one of my future goal to learn Italian food. I am not a
big lover of cooking, but I do love to bake things. In my free time usually on
weekends I bake cake, brownies, and cookies. Addition to that, decorating is my
favorite part of baking. Now a strange fact about me, pets/animals are
something I dislike the most. Honestly, I know it is weird that being a girl
and not liking pets, but unfortunately, I have animal phobia. Which means I have a big fear from animals even the cute once I do not like. However, this is one
thing I wish I could change in myself because there has been some embarrassing occasions
that I had to face.

Nice to meet you Aysha!
ReplyDeleteComputer science is an excellent major to be in, and it sounds like you truly enjoy it. It sounds like you are either a sophomore or junior, are you pursuing a minor?
I am not incredibly fond of animals either. I do have a fish tank that I don't mind tending to, but I do not want any more high maintenance animals.
I look forward to getting to know you!
Hi Aysha! I am an MIS major which includes couple of programming classes. I personally find programming hard but glad to know that you are enjoying it. I have heard Computer Science is a hard major but looks like you are doing good so far and good luck for future classes! Paris is also in my bucket list and would surely like to visit someday. I have great things about the place and people. It was really nice reading about you and getting to know a little bit.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I definitely admire your patience with programming, I’m in engineering so naturally we do a little programming as well. Those courses drive me crazy! You know how if you make a typo in your code, you have to go back through and find it? I spent hours trying to find mine once. I don’t know how you do it (And still have time to bake on the weekends)!
ReplyDeleteHi Aysha! I hope this class can be a fun way for you to see how computers can be a tool for education, in addition to all the other amazing things computers help us do. I am such a fan of javascript (that is how I make the randomizers for class!) and also of RSS (so that I can look at everybody's blogs easily). And I like this interest in the letter A, ha ha. Maybe you could do a Storybook based on famous characters from Indian stories with the letter A: there are lots of them! You already met Ahalya in the Ramayana, and there is an awesome elephant named Airavata; here he is at Wikipedia: Wikipedia: Airavata ... and the greatest hero of the Mahabharata is another "A" character: Arjuna ... so maybe that would make a fun Storybook to ponder the letter A while you are waiting to make your trip to the Eiffel Tower someday! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Aysha,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite classes are also the ones with great professors. I've heard some good stories about my CS friends' favorites, and it sounds like there are a couple really great ones in that department. :)
I would also like to learn to make Italian food. I'm not a huge fan of most pasta dishes, but I do enjoy ravioli, lasagna, and really anything stuffed with cheese and spinach. It doesn't seem so much that Italian food is difficult to make, just that there's a lot of steps involved.

ReplyDeleteHello, Aysha!
ReplyDeleteI think it’s really cool that you are a computer science major! I must admit, I am not great with programming, but I would really love to learn. I think it’s a great skill to have.
It is absolutely okay to not like pets! I know a surprisingly large number of people who share that with you, so don’t feel like it’s strange. If you really are interested in sort of overcoming your fear (which is totally a personal choice and not something you should feel obligated to do), you should do some research on systematic desensitization! It is a psychological behavior therapy that involves deep relaxation and systematic presentation of feared objects. It can be unbelievably successful in people with phobias.
It was nice getting to know you, and I hope you have a fantastic semester!

San Antonio is a really great place! I also dream of visiting Paris one day. It’s not on the very top of my list (Italy is), but it would be a magical place to visit. I’m also a big supporter of Italian food and I also lack the skill of cooking. So, the ability to even attempt Italian cooking would be lost on me completely (I can’t even bake). As far, as your fear about animals we all have insane fears that embarrass us. I have plenty! So, no worries you’re not alone!
ReplyDeleteHello Aysha,
ReplyDeleteI love an amazing professor. Seriously, I wish some of the more dry professors can take seminars by some of the best to get a little spark going for them again. I absolutely love going to San Antonio. My friends and family try to go every summer. If you ever go during that time, visit the Guadalupe River.
Hi! We have a lot of things in common. I love to travel as well! If traveling were free, you would never see me! San Antonio is one of my favorite places! It is a really awesome town. I also love Italian food. You can't go wrong with it! I am super jealous that you have so much talent with computers technology does not like me. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI started out as a computer science major but changed to Management Information Systems, so I know all about those programming classes. I loved the programming, but sometimes there was just a bit too much of it for my taste. Speaking of taste...Italian food is also my favorite! I lived in Argentina for 2 years and they have a big influence down there.
Thanks for sharing!
It is nice to meet you Aysha! I think computer science is really interesting. I did not know anything about it when I came to college so I did not even think about making it my major, but sometimes I wish I had anyway. I love to travel too! I’ve never been to Paris, but I think it would an awesome trip to make some day.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing a little about yourself, Aysha. I am jealous of your major! If I could start over at OU, I would pursue computer science. Something tells me that if you can learn to program and to bake, you can learn how to cook Italian food. A good place to start (besides your basic spaghetti and sauce) is lasagna. There are some super simple recipes out there and you can even buy lasagna noodles that do not require cooking! You just ensure that they are covered with sauce inside the lasagna and they will cook and soften right in the oven. The wonders of culinary technology, eh? Anyhow, I wish you the best as you complete your degree!
ReplyDeleteAysha,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you keep up with computer science, I have had hard times with both the coding classes I have taken. It's like learning a foreign language, something else I am not good at. Further, one of my favorite classes was also a relatively easy one, just because of the professor who taught it. I look forward to reading some of your work.

Hey Aysha,
ReplyDeleteIt was very nice to meet you! Paris is very beautiful, I have been all over Europe and it was most definitely one of the best cities I have been too. The area right outside the Louvre is also very cool especially at night! The city is so bright during the night time so when you go, you’ll have to roam around at night!

Hi Aysha. It is great that you love your major. Computer Science seems very interesting and would be something that I wish I had the patience to learn. That’s great that you love traveling, it is so cool going to different places. I am glad you liked San Antonio it is an awesome town. It was great to read more about you and I hope one day that your animal phobia goes away.
ReplyDeleteHi Aysha,
ReplyDeleteIt was great getting to know you and learn about the things you like. Being a computer scientist would be extremely hard for me because I am not the best at coding (or it is just not my favorite lol). I am glad that you enjoy it though and are good at it! Also, that is unfortunate that you do not like big animals. I am a huge animal person (especially dogs). Anyways, again it was nice to meet you and good luck on your future.
Hi Aysha,
ReplyDeleteI hope all works out for you and you're able to get both your bachelors and masters in Computer Science in two years! That would be pretty awesome to tell everyone! I am currently learning a bit of coding from my boyfriend who is a computer engineer and I feel like a complete noob. Our only major difference is about animals. I LOVE them all. If I could, I would totally have a pet tiger or something. I think they're unbelievably adorable. I hope you're able to conquer your fear and experience the kindness of animals. They are so brave and smart. Anywhoo, I hope you have a wonderful rest of the semester!
Hey Aysha!
ReplyDeleteI love San Antonio! I am actually planning on going there this summer. I am horrible with computers, so I think it is awesome that you can program! I wish I could do that! I applaud you! Having a pet phobia is definitely rare but that is what makes you unique! It was nice to meet you! I look forward to reading your stories!
Hey Aysha!
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to meet you! Your major sounds so interesting! Is there a certain type of programming you would like to develop? I am currently studying French. It is not my favorite language, however, I would love to see the Eiffel Tower and to see Mona Lisa and all of the other famous art pieces at the Louvre! Good luck with the rest of your semester!
Hi Aysha!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to meet you. It sounds like you have a plan. I think a degree in computer science is great. With todays technology world, your job skill will definitely be in demand. Do you have plans to visit Paris soon? When you do visit you should plan on taking a couple of cooking lessons while your there. You can learn from the best! Thanks for sharing some of your interests and goals. Have a good rest of the semester.
Hi Aysha!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great semester this Spring! I enjoyed reading your stories throughout this semester. Good luck on getting your masters in Computer Science! My brother just graduated with his masters in C S a year ago, and he is loving every minute of it. Hope you do the same! Good luck!
Hello again Ayasha! I wanted to say it was really nice getting to know you over the course of this semester. It was also nice to read all your stories to, they were a constant with me during this class. A certain reassurance that I would continue to meet the same character’s every time I come on your blog. I like that, I hope you enjoy your summer and have fun this semester.
